Good morning folks,

It’s the regular weekly transfer update from CFCnet. The rumour mills are operating as fast as expected for this time of the year and the biggest story of the window so far has taken a number of turns again this week. Napoli forward Edinson Cavani is still very much speculated to sign for Chelsea once he has finished representing his country in the Confederations Cup.

Cavana has made a number of comments this week regarding playing for Real Madrid, stating it would be any players dream club. This would suggest Madrid was the players club of choice. However, allegedly sources from the club have revealed that it is in fact Chelsea that they have held successful talks with and will reveal the move after the competition in Brazil. According to various European sources, Cavani will become a Chelsea player for a fee of around £49 million and the deal is already complete, awaiting official annunciation. Napoli have all but ruled out Manchester City from the race for their striker so realistically it is now between Chelsea and Real Madrid, with The Blues very much favourites.

Meanwhile, Chelsea target Hulk has been speculating his own future and one of his representatives has all but confirmed the player will be leaving Zenit St. Petersburg when he finishes his own representation in the Confederations Cup with Brazil. He stated that their will be no announcements until after the competition and that there was interest from France and many other clubs.

Dutch youngster Marco Van Ginkel is still in the wings, it is thought that Chelsea are trying to seal the deal soon in order to fight off any opposition, with the player being chased by a whole host of clubs.

With John Obi Mikel’s future still very much in doubt at Chelsea, there is still speculation surrounding Roma’s Danielle De Rossi making the move across to Stamford Bridge to fill the void. Jose Mourinho is no secret admirer of the Italian enforcer and they should be able to land the striker for a reasonable fee, thus making him an attractive option.

Whispers from The British press this morning suggest that Manchester United’s want-away striker Wayne Rooney  would prefer a move to Chelsea if he was to move anywhere. Chelsea had apparently been interested in bringing him in earlier in the transfer window and those of you that follow my Twitter account, would have known that I too have also been touting Rooney as the striker that will be arriving at The Bridge this summer. I have no sources for that, it is simply my own incline that I believe might happen, especially if Real Madrid sign Cavani.

And finally, it would seem that Juan Mata has denied any speculation that he will be leaving Chelsea, surprise surprise! I think we all knew that this was just bitter rumours from the Spanish press attempting to spoil the party. Also, it would seem that Kevin De Bruyne will be staying and given a chance to shine under Mourinho.
