Both Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard agreed that Chelsea star, Eden Hazard is world class after the Champions League match in midweek (via The Daily Mail).
It was easy to be impressed by Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
The Blues put in a wonderful performance in Azerbaijan, beating rivals FC Qarabag 4-0 in the Champions League group stage.
One man who shone in particular was Eden Hazard. The Belgian scored one and assisted another before leaving the pitch just after the hour.
After the match, former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand praised the Belgian’s performance and described him as ‘world class’.
“He’s definitely world class,” Ferdinand told BT Sport. “He’s the reason that Chelsea were winning the league. he’s the reason if they go deep in this competition he’s going to have to play a huge role and do what he did tonight.”
Former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard added to that sentiment.
“He’s got everything. He scores goals, he creates goals, he’s got vision, speed, he’s direct but his awareness for that little backheel tonight was sensational. That was a little bit of world class in him right there.”
‘World class’ is a difficult description. There is no real universal definition of what it means in football but one thing is for certain, Eden Hazard is an incredible player and one of the best attackers on the planet.
