Blues fans will be watching closely until the 5pm deadline in the UK today, as reports have emerged in the Birmingham Mail that free-spending Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking at making a late move for Chelsea’s Victor Moses.
Wolves failed earlier today to tie up a deal to sign Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko who plays in similar position to Moses, and it’s believed that the newly-promoted club are very keen to bring in a new wing-back before the deadline to rival their current player Matt Doherty.
It’s not known how much first time football Victor Moses will be getting under new boss Maurizio Sarri this season, and he was used as a substitute in the club’s Community Shield defeat this past Sunday.
Moses broke into the Chelsea first team in a starring role in Antonio Conte’s debut title winning season, transitioning into the wing-back role and at the time was even linked to a shock transfer to Barcelona, however a change of system under Sarri could limit the Nigerian’s gametime.
The chances of Wolves completing a permanent move with just a couple of hours until the deadline look unlikely, but a loan move could also be on the cards if Chelsea feel they can do such a deal.
All the noises up in the Midlands suggests Wolves are desperate for a new wing-back and will push hard right up until the deadline to do a deal – be it for Victor Moses or elsewhere, definitely one to watch over the next hours.
