Chelsea maintained their European dominance by beating Inter Milan in the World Challenge Cup trophy thing that we’re playing for. Having seen Sturridge and Lampard put Seattle Sounders to bed, today saw Lampard and Drogba with the goals.

We started with the diamond formation, with Essien on the right, Malouda on the left, Mikel holding and Lampard attacking, Drogba an Kalou started up front.

Inter rested Ibrahmovich to begin with, the only man of any note on their team who didn’t start.

Less then ten minutes into the match, Drogba rounded the outcoming keeper, but his touch hit it slightly too far forward and wide for a shot, and with only Kalou to try and pick out in the box the danger was cleared.

Then just minutes later, Lampard rolled the ball to Drogba, the Ivorian had his back to goal initially, but turned and unleashed a powerful side-footed shot that clipped an Inter players shin, adding a bit of bounce to the ball, which had enough power and accuracy to beat the keeper.

There weren’t many other chances of note, we had a free kick that Lamps shot from but was straight at the keeper, Inter were hardly threatening at all.

At half time we made four subsitutions, with Anelka and Sturridge replacing our strikeforce of Kalou and Drogba, Alex came on for Riccy and Deco for Malouda.

Soon after the break it was the newly introduced Sturridge’s who had a cross which was handled by Burdisso and Lamps sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty to make it 2-0.

With just over quarter of an hour of the second half gone, Mancienne, Belletti and Turnball were introduced, it was Mancienne who was most noteworthy, he hit a hard shot along the ground from outside the box, but unfortunately it curled away from the goal and went wide.

Ibrahimovich struck a free kick well but it was easy enough for Turnball to make the save.

Hutchinson and Di Santo also got a run out, replacing Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard respectively.

The match finished Chelsea 2 – 0 Inter Milan in front of over 81,000 fans.
