Welcome to the CFCnet Wednesday evening transfer rumour roundup. It’s getting to that exciting time of the season for those transfer news lovers, so here we will be bringing you daily roundups of all things Chelsea related and giving our take on the potential moves.
First off, Chelsea stopper Petr Cech appears to be almost certainly moving this summer with a number of clubs being talked about including Arsenal. Manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he will not force Cech to stay, but it will take a fair offer for The Blues to part way. There has been talk today that the fee will potentially be around £10 – £15 million for the former Chelsea number one, who has lost that place to in form Thibaut Courtois.
I’d be surprised if we let him got to a local rival, even to another Premier League club, but it has been done before so anything can happen. My take is, he’s been an excellent player for our club and will go down as being one of our best ever keepers. But he needs to be number one and he won’t be that here with Courtois becoming one of the best current keepers in the world. To sell to Arsenal would be daft, shipping abroad for over £10 million will be a decent outcome.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are being linked with yet another striker. This time is is in the shape of Lazio forward Filipe Anderson. The 21-year-old is a regular Brazil youth international and has the usual Brazilian flair that is apparently attracting the Chelsea team of scouts to report back positively to Mourinho.
My take? Chelsea certainly need another striker this summer, maybe even two if both Didier Drogba and Loic Remy do go. They also need another winger, Anderson can play in both positions and is certainly a big name for the future. The Blues may well be looking at him for one of those future buys and loan him out straight away, that would not be abnormal.
