Wigan Chaiman Dave Whelan has not only rejected Chelsea’s third bid, said to be around £5 million, he is also stating that he would like winger Victor Moses to sign a new contract with Wigan.
Chelsea have said to had offers of £3.5 million, £4 million, and now £5 million all laughed off by Whelan. Chelsea are looking for a cheap back-up winger and see Moses as a top upcoming talent, still only being 21-years-old. But they are not prepared to pay over the odds for the former Crystal Palace youngster, who has not fully proved his worth yet. He has been the shining light in the Wigan team, but it would be a different story at the Bridge, so is considered a risk.
There is still speculation that Chelsea will come back in with a higher offer, and Moses desperately wants to join the European Champions. But Dave Whelan will not even look at anything much below £10 million, so whether Chelsea officials will be prepared to pay that is another story.
In an interview with The Sun, Dave Whelan said about the bids “They’ve all come in the last three weeks, but they’ve not offered enough. I don’t know if they’ll bid again, but if they do we always listen. And if it is what Roberto believes he is worth then we will take it from there. If the lad had any brains he’d stay under Roberto for another year or so”.
Victor Moses fact you may not know – Moses played for England at youth level up to under-21s, having an impressive scoring record, getting 11 goals for them. Although being born in Nigeria, Moses opted to play for England, but then at senior level, chose to play for his native Nigeria and has since been capped 3 times.
