There’s been plenty of talk and not a lot of action on Deadline Day as Willian is supposedly subject of increased last minute interest from Paris St-Germain – say multiple sources.
Sky Sports a few hours ago stated that PSG were indeed interested and that they would be looking to pursue a deal with just hours until the window closes for the Brazilian.
The Metro then followed up by stating that Willian’s representatives are in Paris this afternoon and are awaiting the ‘green light’ from both clubs to get the deal rolling – with a fee in the region of £50 million being reported.
With his contract running down at the end of next season, the 30-year old has been said to be keen to try out a new challenge at another of Europe’s elite clubs, and the Blues themselves may be keen to cash-in before his value and age works against him.
So what’s the latest? Well Willian has been training as normal at Cobham today, which would indicate that nothing is going to happen in the final hours of this transfer window.
London and Paris are not far apart though and PSG are reeling after losing Neymar to injury for the next few months and Willian, on paper, looks to be the ideal replacement ahead of key Champions League fixtures and the league title run-in.
No doubt Blues fans and CFCnet will be keeping all eyes on this in the coming hours, but at this moment it appears nothing is close to be done and Willian looks set to stay on in west London.
